Bonnor Valencia Community College Author Note This paper was prepared for PSY2012, CRN: 14478, Taught by Professor Oses Abstract Children that have been prenatally exposed to alcohol can suffer from a variety of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum disorders (FASD), FASD is a large term that includes many different disorders as an effect of prenatal alcohol exposure. Fetal alcohol syndrome or FAS is one of the many diagnoses that are in that category, with symptoms like growth deficiency and damage to the central nervous system it makes it a lifelong mental disorder that makes it very difficult for the children to live a normal life. According to data and statistic from May 2014 made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) an approximation of the rate of children born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is between 0.2 to 1.5 cases per 1000 live births. Which makes Prenatal Alcohol Exposure a common issue in the US.
